Ambergris

A precious odorous material derived from a secretion of the sperm whale, long collected at sea after floating. Ambergris offers a marine, sweet, slightly tobacco scent and brings roundness, depth and longevity to fragrances. Rare and costly, often replaced by synthetic equivalents, it evokes the rarest luxury and inspires the opulent base notes sought in fine perfumery.
