Chartreuse

Chartreuse refers to a French liqueur made by the Carthusian monks from a blend of one hundred and thirty botanicals macerated in a wine alcohol base. Its green version, at fifty-five percent, draws its natural hue from chlorophyll, while the sweeter, honeyed yellow one is coloured by saffron. Produced near Voiron, it is the soul of classics such as the last word and the bijou, where its herbal bitterness stays inimitable.
