Cheese platter
['cheese platter', 'plateau de fromages']
The cheese platter is a presentation of several cheeses arranged on a large wooden or marble tray, brought to the guest's table at the end of the meal. Unlike the cheese cart, the platter is a more static format, generally presenting six to fifteen cheeses selected by the maitre d'hotel or chef. The cheese platter is often accompanied by an explanatory card listing each cheese, its region of origin, its affineur and its recommended wine pairing. The tradition remains strong in French, Italian and Swiss gastronomic restaurants, notably Schauenstein Caminada and Schwarzwaldstube in Germany (Source: MICHELIN Guide France, 2026).
