A score of two strokes under par on a golf hole, such as a three on a par five or a two on a par four. A notable achievement, an eagle rewards accurate long play followed by a holed putt or an approach dropped close to the flag. On resort courses it often marks a memorable round. The term sits within the hierarchy of scoring names between the birdie and the still rarer albatross.
