Early-drinking wine

An early-drinking wine is meant to be enjoyed young, within the months or year following bottling, to capture its crisp fruit and immediate freshness. Usually low in tannin and lively, it gains nothing from cellaring and quickly loses its qualities. Beaujolais nouveau, released on the third Thursday of November, is the most famous example. These wines favour spontaneous pleasure over longevity.
