Emerald jardin

Network of inclusions, fissures and fluid-filled cavities particular to each emerald, designated by the French term jardin, meaning garden. Far from a flaw, it confirms the stone's natural origin and gives it a unique internal landscape. The Gemological Institute of America classes emerald among type three gems, where inclusions are expected. Palace jewellers present the jardin as evidence of authenticity.
