Ensemble finale

A vast concluding movement bringing together numerous characters, developed in the eighteenth century, particularly in opera buffa. The ensemble finale chains together several sections contrasted in key, metre and tempo, following the evolution of an increasingly tense dramatic situation. This virtuoso construction crowns the acts of the operas proposed to palace guests with a collective build of intensity, gathering every thread of the plot into one climactic surge.
