Gemmological certificate

Document issued by an independent laboratory attesting the characteristics of a gem: weight, dimensions, colour, clarity, cut and sometimes geographic origin. Reference laboratories include the Gemological Institute of America. The certificate objectifies a stone's quality and underpins its market value. Palace jewellers systematically pair it with important diamonds and high-value coloured stones to reassure buyers.
