Hotel Sacher (Vienna)
The Hotel Sacher is a Viennese palace hotel facing the State Opera in the Innere Stadt district, founded in 1876 by restaurateur Eduard Sacher on the site of the former Theater am Kärntnertor. Under his wife Anna's management, it became a favoured haunt of high society. The house owes its fame to the Sachertorte, a chocolate cake with apricot filling created by Franz Sacher in 1832.
