Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) involves breathing 100% pure oxygen inside a pressurized chamber (1.4-3 atmospheres, versus 1 at sea level). Originally developed for diving accidents and carbon monoxide poisoning, it's now FDA-approved for 14 medical conditions. At luxury wellness retreats, HBOT is used off-label for recovery, longevity protocols, post-surgery healing, and cognitive performance. The pressurized environment forces oxygen to dissolve into your blood plasma, accelerating tissue repair and reducing inflammation. Sessions last 60-120 minutes inside a transparent chamber where you can read, watch movies, or sleep. Cost: 150-400 EUR per session at premium properties; meaningful results typically require a series of 10-40 sessions. Available at Lanserhof, SHA Wellness, Mayrlife, and select medical spas. Contraindications: untreated pneumothorax, certain ear or sinus issues, claustrophobia.
