Jigger

The jigger refers to a metal measure with two cones of differing capacities, ensuring precise volumes poured into a cocktail. European models are graduated in millilitres, often twenty and forty, while American versions are counted in ounces. Rigorous measurement governs the balance of a recipe and its repeatability. Some jiggers carry intermediate marks that ease fractional measures behind the bar.
