Julep strainer

The julep strainer refers to a perforated metal cup, shaped like a domed spoon, held inside the mixing glass when straining a stirred cocktail. Its name comes from the Mint Julep, which it once let drinkers sip over crushed ice in the nineteenth century. Concave toward the ice, it nests inside the mixing glass and naturally complements the preparation of stirred drinks.
