Libretto

The text of an opera, comprising all the sung words and dramatic directions, most often written by an author called the librettist and sometimes by the composer. The Italian word means little book. The quality of the libretto shapes the dramatic force of the work. Reading it beforehand enriches the experience of the lyric performances proposed within the cultural programming offered to palace guests attending an evening at the opera.
