Long Run Global Ecosphere Retreats

Long Run is an international community of landowners and tourism operators certified on the 4 C's: Conservation, Community, Culture, Commerce. Run by the Zeitz Foundation since 2009. Three membership tiers exist: Fellow Member, Long Run Member, and at the top Global Ecosphere Retreats (GER). The GER certification is among the most demanding in sustainable tourism, validated by independent audit. GER members in 2025 include Segera Retreat (Kenya, owned by founder Jochen Zeitz), Borana Conservancy, Wolwedans (Namibia), Lapa Rios (Costa Rica), and Misool (Indonesia). For travelers, the GER label flags eco-lodges and conservation safaris where conservation is the core business model, not a CSR side project.
