Minerality

Minerality describes a family of sensations perceived in certain wines, evoking flint, chalk, iodine or salinity, often linked to limestone or schist soils. A late arrival in tasting vocabulary, the term remains imprecise: research shows these impressions do not come from a direct transfer of soil minerals into the grape, but from a cluster of aromatic compounds combined with the wine's acidity.
