Muddler

The muddler refers to a short stick with a rounded head, made of wood, steel or plastic, used to crush fruit, herbs and sugar at the bottom of a glass or shaker. Unvarnished wooden models remain traditional, while toothed heads maximise extraction. Controlled pressure releases juice and oils without grinding the bitter parts of leaves. The Mojito and the Caipirinha make central use of it.
