Par
The number of strokes an expert golfer is expected to take on a hole or a full course. Calculated from the length of the hole, par is usually set at three, four or five. The sum of individual pars gives the course par, the benchmark against which all scores are measured. It is the universal yardstick of golf, printed on the scorecards handed to guests at golf resorts before every round they play.
