Plunge pool

A plunge pool is a small private pool, usually about the size of a large bathtub or a bit bigger, meant for cooling off and lounging rather than for actual swimming. They're usually 1.2 to 1.5 meters deep and just big enough for two or three people to sit in. In the Maldives and Bali, almost every pool villa above $1,500 a night now comes with one on the deck. Four Seasons Kuda Huraa, Anantara Kihavah, Six Senses Laamu, Soneva Jani, all of them. The benefit over a full pool: easier to heat, less water, more privacy, and the perfect midnight dip after dinner. Sometimes raised, sometimes sunken, often surrounded by the deck of the villa.
