The segment took a hit in 2018 when Bluesmart and Away had to pull non-removable lithium-ion batteries to comply with IATA rules, but it recovered by switching to detachable TSA-approved batteries. Allied Market Research valued the global market at USD 2.4 billion in 2024 with 12 percent annual growth, driven mainly by Asian and Middle Eastern business travellers.
