Steam distillation

An extraction process in which water vapour passes through plant material to carry off its volatile compounds, then condensed into essential oil and hydrosol. A historic and the most widespread method, distillation suits robust plants such as lavender, rose or vetiver. It provides many of the fundamental raw materials used in luxury signature scents.
