Stellenbosch

Stellenbosch refers to a wine region in South Africa, in the Western Cape, east of Cape Town. The country's second oldest wine district after Constantia, centred on a town founded in 1679, it concentrates the nation's most celebrated estates. Cabernet sauvignon is the flagship grape, often blended with merlot in Bordeaux styles. The region is also the birthplace of pinotage, a crossing of pinot noir and cinsault created locally in 1925.
