Synchronised service
Synchronised service refers to the rule requiring that every guest at a table receive their plate at the same moment. One server stands behind each pair of diners, and on the maitre d'hotel's signal all plates are set down and their domes lifted simultaneously. This choreography, characteristic of covered or dome service, ensures no guest begins eating before the others and underscores the refinement of the dining room.
