Table linen dressing

Table linen dressing refers to the full set of cloth laid over a palace dining table, chiefly the tablecloth and napkins, most often in damask cotton or white linen. In luxury hospitality it rests on a felt underlay that cushions impacts and absorbs moisture. The overhang falls at least to the seated guest's knees, and the ironed creases cross at the centre of the table to produce a strict visual symmetry across every cover.
