Tee box

The mown area from which a golfer plays the first stroke of each hole, the ball allowed to rest on a small peg also called a tee. Several coloured markers indicate teeing positions of differing length according to the standard and gender of the players. On resort courses, the maintenance and alignment of teeing grounds contribute to the perceived quality of the layout and to the strategy of attacking each hole.
