The Plaza (New York)

The Plaza is a New York palace hotel at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Central Park South, opened on 1 October 1907. The eighteen-storey French Renaissance château-style building was designed by architect Henry Janeway Hardenbergh. Backed by financier Bernhard Beinecke and hotelier Fred Sterry, it replaced an earlier hotel of the same name and offered eight hundred rooms when it opened.
