Turn-down service

Turn-down service is the evening preparation of your room, usually between 6pm and 9pm, a second visit from housekeeping after your daytime cleaning. The corner of the bed sheet is folded back at 45 degrees so it's ready to slip into, curtains are drawn, lights are dimmed to bedside lamps only, a bath mat is placed by the tub, and a small chocolate, cookie, or local sweet is often placed on the pillow with a weather forecast card for tomorrow. Luxury hotels do this in every room; many mid-range hotels offer it on request only. If you'd rather skip it (privacy, jet lag), tell the front desk, they'll note it on your profile.
