Biohacking

['body hacking', 'performance optimisation', 'quantified self']

Biohacking describes the use of technologies, physiological protocols and biometric data to measurably modify bodily, cognitive or metabolic performance. In luxury hospitality, it appears as suites equipped with hyperbaric chambers, full-body cryotherapy cabins, red-light therapy panels, heart-rate-variability sensors and continuous glucose monitoring programmes. Hospitality Net 2026 cites biohacking as a differentiation axis for new entrants such as Equinox Hotels New York, Six Senses Place Naples and The Estate by Aman. The term was popularised from 2008 onward by quantified-self communities, before gradually being medicalised and folded into premium wellness offerings during the 2020s. A little-known fact: several Equinox suites offer assisted-breathing protocols priced at 3,200 USD per session, excluding accommodation (Hospitality Net, 2026).
